Mission Statement:

It is the mission of the Henderson Police Department to promote a desirable quality of life for the citizens and visitors of the City of Henderson by enforcing the laws and ordinances of the City of Henderson and the State of Tennessee in a fair and impartial manner recognizing the constitutional rights of all persons.  The City of Henderson is a full service Police Department, we welcome any call for service, and we will strive to help any citizen or visitor with any problem large or small. We are proud to be a community-orientated department. The City of Henderson Police Department will strive improve through training and education of its employees.

Henderson Police Department Citizens' Police Academy

The Henderson Police Department is accepting applications for the Citizens' Police Academy 1st Session. Get to know your Police Department! The 8 week Henderson Citizens' Police Academy provides an opportunity for residents to learn various aspects of the Police Department, such as the guiding principles of law and ethical conduct governing the delivery of police services. Classes are a combination of lecture and interactive activities. Class topics will include The History of Policing, Communications role in Law Enforcement, Patrol Procedures, Narcotics Investigation, Criminal Investigations, Ride Alongs and much more.

The academy will be held every Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Henderson City Hall located at 121 Crook Avenue in the class room or city court, located on the 2nd floor. Classes begin on September 11, 2017 and will end with a formal graduation ceremony on October 30, 2017. The program is offered free of charge and class size is limited to 12 participants. We also ask that participants commit to attending a minimum of 7 out of 8 sessions. Participants of the Citizens' Police Academy must be at lest 21 years of age and live or work in the City of Henderson. In addition, Criminal History checks will be conducted on all applicants for final approval. Criminal Investigations Division:

The Criminal Investigation Division investigates all crimes against person or property inside the city limits of Henderson.  The Criminal Investigator could not do his or her job to the fullest without the assistance and cooperation they receive from the citizens of our community.  Anyone that has any information pertaining to a criminal offence or may have been a witness to a criminal offence is encouraged to contact the Criminal Investigator of the Henderson Police Department.

Community Crime Prevention:

The mission of the Crime Prevention Unit is to reduce the incidence of crimes against citizens and property in the City of Henderson.  The Crime Prevention Unit accomplishes its mission by application of the following:

  • Educational Presentations as community meetings, local school activities and community events.
  • Compilation and analysis of local crime statistics for public and departmental use.
  • Assessment of crime risk opportunity and initiating appropriate actions to eliminate or reduce the opportunity.

The Crime Prevention Unit offers a variety of services in order to achieve our mission which include, but are not limited to the following:
